Research for the next generation of mobility.
The Transportation Electrification and Smart Systems Group (TESS-G) conducts cutting-edge interdisciplinary research at the intersection of transportation electrification, power electronics, intelligent energy systems, and robotics. Our core research focuses on pioneering sustainable technologies for electric vehicles, vehicle-integrated photovoltaics (VIPV), energy storage systems, advanced control strategies, and autonomous robotic platforms. By seamlessly integrating theoretical modeling, simulation, experimental validation, and hardware prototype development, we aim to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world engineering applications.
Through strategic collaborations with a wide network of national and international industry partners, research centers, and academic institutions, TESS-G drives high-impact university–industry cooperation. Concurrently, we serve as an independent scientific resource for policymakers and regulatory bodies, delivering techno-economic assessments and strategic roadmaps that accelerate the transition toward efficient, reliable, and zero-emission transportation ecosystems. Housed within the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Yıldız Technical University (YTU), TESS-G conducts all its research and development activities at the historic Beşiktaş Campus in Istanbul, Türkiye.
